The Institute for Community Living (ICL) helps children, adults and families—New Yorkers of all backgrounds and ages—living with serious mental illness, substance use disorder, and developmental disabilities achieve greater health and independence.

Once a traditional behavioral health organization, ICL has evolved into a whole health provider to meet the growing and complex needs of the people we serve. We provide behavioral health and primary care, and we also address the social determinants of health, such as housing, food security and social services.

New ICL Program Fills Gaps in NYC’s Mental Health System. This fall, ICL is launching an innovative pilot program that expands the continuum of care for New Yorkers experiencing the most significant mental-health challenges.

ICL provides permanent supportive housing for people with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
