2020年10月26日 · This new realization, referred to as ICRF3, is based on nearly 40 years of data acquired by very long baseline interferometry. The ICRF3 includes positions at 8.4 GHz for 4536 sources, supplemented with positions at 24 GHz for 824 sources and at 32 GHz for 678 sources, for a total of 4588 sources.
Resolution B2 of the XXX IAU General Assembly (IAU 2019) resolves that as from 1 January 2019 ICRF3 is the fundamental realization of the International Celestial Reference System (ICRS).

The International Celestial Reference Frame (ICRF) and later versions of it (ICRF1, etc.) are realizations of the ICRS. For brevity, we'll simply refer to ``the ICRF'' below. The rotational offset between the J2000 frame and the ICRS has magnitude of under 0.1 arcseconds.
It can be accessed from everywhere on Earth and in the solar system at any time through observation of its objects. Local inertial sensors are not globally accessible. They display local rotational characteristics. closure quantities can be utilized. This topic is research done at GFZ (1)
NIF J2000 versus ICRF •The realization of ICRF was made to coincide almost exactly with the J2000 frame. –The difference is very small–a rotation of less than 0.1 arc second. –The reference frame name "J2000" is generally used in SPICE as a label for the ICRF frame. »In reality, any SPICE data said to be referenced to the J2000
The third realization of the International Celestial Reference Frame by ...
A new realization of the International Celestial Reference Frame (ICRF) is presented based on the work achieved by a working group of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) mandated for this purpose. This new realization follows the initial realization of the ICRF completed in 1997 and its successor, ICRF2, adopted as a replacement in 2009.
This third realization of the ICRF was adopted by the IAU at its 30th General Assembly in August 2018 and replaced the previous realization, ICRF2, on January 1, 2019. Key words. reference systems – astrometry – techniques: interferometric – quasars: general – galaxies: nuclei –
The ICRF has accomplished its primary goal of providing an accurate and stable frame conceptually independent of the motion of Earth in space. However, from its inception, it has been known that the ICRF has a less than desirable density of sources (Ma et al. 1998), with an average of only about one

2014年12月1日 · We propose a 3rd generation radio-based International Celestial Reference Frame (ICRF3) to improve upon the highly successful ICRF-2. Our goals are to improve the precision as well as the spatial and frequency coverages relative to the ICRF-2 by 2018.
