Please be aware that these ringed screw heads are found on both original WWII Springfield and some original postwar Springfield M1 gas cylinders. To aid in identification, the postwar Springfields have what looks like a bow-tie screw slot, while the IHC screw slot (as imaged above) is a straight cut across.

I have had this M1 Garand for abt 40 years, purchased from an avid gun collector or has since died. I have recently been trying to find out as much histiry as I can about it but all the info I have found on Intn'l Harvester M1's do not seem to match mine. For example, the International Harvester Serial # is 50156.
