The lock module is the housing that the ignition lock cylinder mounts in, the ignition switch snaps on to, and has the linkage that connects the lock cylinder to the ignition switch. If you have to replace it ,you can reuse the old ignition lock and no programming is required if that is the case.

Using the ignition key, rotate the lock cylinder to ensure correct mechanical operation in all positions. Install the electrical connector onto the key warning switch. Connect the battery ground cable. Check for proper ignition functions and verify that the column is locked in the LOCK position. Install the trim shrouds.

Try turning it manually with screwdriver or other such tools and see if you can mimic what the key/lock cylinder would do to turn the switch over and start the vehicle.
