Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA), an institute of international repute devoted to management education, announced an architectural competition for its extension in 1999.

The result of an international competition held in 1999, the project for the enlargement of the IIMA (Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad) contemplated the creation of a new campus by expanding to the adjacent 16-hectare site.

Under a national competition HCPDPM was awarded the project for the design of an extension to IIMA, an institute of international repute devoted to management education.

The 'new campus', spread over 39 acres, is separated from the Main Campus by a highway but is connected to it by a pedestrian subway under the road that also functions as an exhibition space. The architect for the first round of development was the Ahmedabad-based firm, HCP Design, Planning and Management, led by Bimal Patel.
