Set in the seat of St Fachtna, in beautiful west Cork, the roots of our parish are in the ancient Ros Alithir – the place of the pilgrims. Ours is a large parish of sixty-three townlands and we have three churches serving the spiritual needs of our parishioners.

St Fachtna’s Parish Church. The history of Rosscarbery can be traced back to the founding of a monastery by St Fachtna, in the late 6th Century. This was located on the site of the present day St Fachtna’s Cathedral. This location has been a site of Christian worship since the 11th Century.
