The resources are intended to help students develop skills and plant identification techniques before going out into the field, rather than to replace fieldwork.

In this activity, students practice the technique of measuring population density in quadrats by sampling the plant species that live in the lawn of the school. Students will gain an understanding of biodiversity, diferent sampling techniques (transect vs. random), and factors that impact population density.
