Cardiac Allograft Vasculopathy | Circulation - AHA/ASA Journals
2008年4月22日 · Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) is the most sensitive tool for the diagnosis of CAV. IVUS allows a reproducible view of both actual lumen diameter and the appearance and thickness of the intima and media. Typically, serial IVUS allows assessment of the percentage change in atheroma volume, with considerable statistical power to detect small ...
Invasive Coronary Imaging Assessment for Cardiac Allograft …
Invasive imaging is essential for early diagnosis of cardiac allograft vasculopathy. Angiography and intravascular ultrasound are mainstays supported by prognostic data. Invasive imaging may shed light on the pathobiology of cardiac allograft vasculopathy. Heart transplantation is the standard of care treatment for end-stage heart failure.
Detection and Imaging of Cardiac Allograft Vasculopathy
Advances in imaging technology, specifically intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), now also permit detection of subangiographic CAV. Noninvasive stress testing, particularly with dobutamine stress echocardiography (DSE), has been investigated as a way to decrease the need for ICA.
IVUS may be used to assess the progression of coronary artery disease and allow for more accurate evaluation of interventions aimed at preventing or attenuating coronary artery disease (Bae et al., 2006), (White et al., 2003).

2025年1月27日 · IVUS has emerged as the gold standard for early detection of cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV). The European guidelines for the management of heart transplant patients recommend utilizing IVUS in conjunction with coronary angiography at baseline and follow-up to detect rapidly progressive CAV [ 52 ].
Coronary imaging of cardiac allograft vasculopathy predicts ... - PubMed
Background: Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) improve sensitivity of cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) detection compared to invasive coronary angiography (ICA), but their ability to predict clinical events is unknown.
Cardiac allograft vasculopathy: a review - PMC - PubMed …
Cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) is a major factor limiting long-term survival after cardiac transplantation. CAV is an accelerated form of coronary artery disease (CAD) that is characterized by concentric fibrous intimal hyperplasia along the length of coronary vessels.
Optical Coherence Tomography in Cardiac Allograft Vasculopathy ...
2021年8月20日 · Optical coherence tomography is a light-based technique that provides microscopic level catheter-based intravascular imaging and has dramatically expanded our understanding of CAV, demonstrating it to be a complex, heterogeneous, and dynamic process.

2020年10月1日 · The use of IVUS for CAV assessment has brought significant advances in the early detection of the disease: with its high penetrance, it provides cross-sectional imaging of the lumen and vessel wall that improves the detection of angiographic occult CAV.
