2022年7月14日 · I had a good J1772 before I got my Tesla, and debated installing a Tesla instead. The J1772 is fine, but the native Tesla charger is just a little bit better in how you can open the charger port door and unlock the plug. If you ever want to switch to J1772, then you can order Tesla's J1772 charger and snap it onto your existing wiring base.

2024年5月9日 · J1772 adapter is passive and charges at the same voltage and current as your home charging setup, so if you don't have overheating issues with that then the car is ok. That leaves the issue being the adapter not being able to handle normal charging temps (unlikely) or a bad connection between the adapter and J1772 handle plug causing overheating.

In theory, you could get anywhere from about 3 miles of range per hour of charging (on a Level 1 EVSE; about 1kW) up to about 45 miles of range per hour of charging (on a 48A Level 2 EVSE, assuming you have a Long Range Model 3; about 11.5kW), depending on the capabilities of the EVSE.

2014年8月11日 · Quick update: All three of my Tesla Universal Chargers are exhibiting the same issue—the J1772 adapter button is frozen and cannot be pressed. I’ve been recommending the Universal Charger as the best option available, but I now have to include a caveat: if you plan to use it outdoors in freezing temperatures, it won’t work for J1772 usage.

This extra plastic slot is also why the existing J1772 to Model S adapter will not directly work with the new J1772 DC connector.
