The M.Stirling J28 (H&BR Class L,L1,LS) 0-6-0 Locomotives. These 0-6-0s were the last of a long series of 0-6-0 locomotives ordered by the Hull & Barnsley Railway (H&BR), and were essentially a larger and more modern version of the earlier Class B (LNER J23) locomotives.

The Pennsylvania Railroad 's class J28 comprised two experimental 2-6-2 "Prairie" type steam locomotives. In 1905, the Pennsylvania Railroad needed a better steam locomotive than the class E 4-4-2 "Atlantic" type. So, the railroad ordered two 2-6-2s from Alco-Schenectady. They were tested extensively and failed in railroad service.

K3s - 30 built by Baldwin in 1913. K4s - 425 built by the PRR and Baldwin 1914-1928. Class L was assigned to the 2-8-2 "Mikado" type.
