JBL's 2265HPL Differential Drive 15" woofer is a capable, durable, touring-quality PA speaker. Compared with traditional driver designs, JBL's patented Differential Drive employs a pair of inline voice coils in separate magnetic gaps instead of a single voice coil-gap configuration.

Those two JBL 15" drivers use differential drive and Neodym magnet circuit. The 2265 challenge was to equal the 2226 (low distorsion in particular), together with a lower weight. The 2216Nd is used on the well-known M2 model. It seems it exhibits lower efficiency and more extended bass/sub response than the 2226.

The 2265 is basically a NEO version of a 2226 that handles more power, has less power compression, dual voice differential voice coils and only weighs 8 pounds! What is their depth versus 2226? I would say the total frame depth is about 2 inches deeper. Some of the extra depth is due to the connection terminals being on the back.
