Lloyd and Reid left the band in March 1980, and Hurst followed a month or so later. Burns and Healy were then joined by bassist Sue James, guitarist Adrian Mitchley, and drummer Joe Musker and,in May 1980, just before they were to record a radio session for John Peel, Burns changed the name of the band to Dead or Alive.
