OMORI is a surreal psychological horror RPG Maker game. Explore a strange world full of colorful friends and foes. Navigate through the vibrant and the mundane in order to uncover a forgotten past. JUMPSCARES are a recurring gameplay element that can be encountered in OMORI. A general tip on avoiding jumpscares is not to wake SUNNY up during the night. You can wake up SUNNY in WHITE SPACE by choosing to stab yourself as OMORI. It will also help avoid (or find) some of the more frightening optional elements of the game.

SAFE SPOT is one of the ten optional BLACK SPACE areas the player can explore. To the far west of the area's starting point features a lone purple jumprope, likely serving as a hint for the truth. The sprite of the jumprope resembles the ones found in both PYREFLY FOREST and ORANGE OASIS.

Completing the Arrow Maze in the optional Orange Oasis area congratulates you with a "You did it!" poster with a smiley face on it, and an inconspicuous jump rope lying on the ground. It becomes a lot darker in light of the truth: the jump rope was used by Sunny and Basil to stage Mari's suicide, and "You did it!"

REN's real world counterpart seems to be KAREN. In the 2018 demo, SHAWN and REN's overworld sprites originally depicted them holding jump rope to play with. They also had more expressions and animations, but these were strangely removed in the final game.
