In 1975, Bunce sold KCBC to Black Hawk Broadcasting, an Iowa group owner that at the time had stations in Waterloo (KWWL-AM, KFMW, and KWWL-TV) and Cedar Rapids (KLWW). Black Hawk wanted KCBC to create a presence in Des Moines and to provide a base of operations for coverage of state government.

We get together every month to share stories and enjoy each other's company.

It was the only station in the area playing album rock so we got all the good music, the good concerts, the good promotions and all the attention from the record companies. Unlike the story intimated in the previous history of KCBC on this site, it DID work...for a while.
