Kansas City Southern GP7 4160, in its original paint scheme, at Minden, Louisiana. The locomotive was built as the 160 and was renumbered in 1973 to avoid confusing the railroads' computer system with a covered hopper of the same number.

KCS "Ghosts" - The Diesel Shop
Carbodies and cabs were done in solid white, with a gold frame stripe and a large red "KCS" on the long hood. This "ghostly" attire was replaced several years later by battleship grey with gold-nose chevrons; it was the last of the economy-driven schemes, prior to KCS's retro- looking "Belle" colors of five decades earlier.

Kansas City Southern F7A slug 4060 was on train No. 53 in New Orleans, between GP40-2 798 and GP40 788. The 4060 had been built in August 1950 as F7A 73D. It was assigned engine number 90 in 1957, renumbered 4060 in 1978 and then rebuilt into a road slug in 1979.

The EMD GP7 is a four-axle (B-B) diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division and General Motors Diesel between October 1949 and May 1954. [2] The GP7 was the first EMD road locomotive to use a hood unit design instead of a car-body design.
