We don't translate proper nouns. The Office Québécoise de la langue francaise can't force translation of registered proper nouns too. Pfk did it by themselves in a time where the province was mostly speaking french with little to no English education. They thought that it was a good idea to let customer know what product you're selling.
In Quebec, KFC is PFK : r/mildlyinteresting - Reddit
In France, the actual birthplace of French, it's still KFC lol. It's bizarre that Québec is so aggressively anti-English that it demands these concessions from companies. I'm literally Canadian with two Montréalais parents and I still think it's weird lol

2020年5月3日 · There's some individual restaurants, but as far as fast food chain specialized in fried chicken PFK had no competition. We don't have Church, Popeyes, Bojangles, Chick-fil-A or chains like that here, the only chain I can think of that specialized in fried chicken is Mon Ami, the Korean fried chicken place and they don't have many restaurants ...
What happened to PFK in Aylmer? : r/Gatineau - Reddit
Bonjour les amis! I recently moved to Aylmer in 2023. One thing that struck me immediately was the boarded up PFK on Principale. 2020年5月3日 · Toutes les bannières des restaurants YUM! (PFK, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut) vivent sur leur réputation ailleurs en Amérique, mais ils ne font pas partis des moeurs ici alors les gens n'y vont pas "par défaut" (comme ils vont au St-Hubert ou au McDo par exemple).

During this time the owners of KFC in the United States then went for a global expansion which meant that KFC's were named KFC pretty much anywhere. KFC in Quebec is named PFK because Colonel Sanders opened them up as PFK. The …
