KG-84 is a dedicated loop encryption device for digital data, developed in the early 1980s by the US National Security Agency (NSA), for use by the American Department of Defense (DoD) and by NATO. The device uses the SAVILLE encryption algorithm [1] – jointly developed by GCHQ and the NSA – and was approved for all levels of classification.

KG84A's were general, high capacity key generators used to encrypt and decrypt teletypewriter and digital data in both tactical and fixed plant environments. It has four selectable traffic key slots, improved remote rekeying, and mandatory EIA-RS-449 control signed.

Two versions of the KG-84 are known. The KG-84A that was mainly used for point-to-point encryption via telephone lines, microwave links and satellites, and the KG-84C that was a Dedicated Loop Encryption Device (DLED).
