The KIV-78 is the next generation Type 1 NSA-certified COMSEC for IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) that meets the new DoD standards.

The KIV-77 and -78 emulators support both Mode 4 and 5 (Level 1 and 2) interrogator and transponder operations. They integrate seamlessly with our AN/DPX-7, AN/APX-111, AN/APX-126, and other IFF equipment to provide cryptographic test services with enhanced ease of use.

KIV-78 is compatible with both the CYZ-10, PYQ-10, KIK-20 and other EKMS308/608 compliant DS-101 key load devices. Other functions KIV-78 provides for the IFF system include time-of-day services, status reporting, and host key management services.

The KIV-78 Crypto Applique is the next generation Type 1 NSA-certified COMSEC for IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) that meets the new DoD standards.

The KIV-78 Test Program Set (TPS) was specifically developed to be used with an IFF-7300S-50 Automated Test System for the purpose of accomplishing performance testing and diagnostic screening (looking at all signals and status words) on the KIV-78 Crypto Appliqué.

Information was requested on small size, weight, and power (SWaP) cryptographic devices, such as miniaturized KIV-77 or KIV-78 equivalents, for Mode-5 Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) transponders and radios for use in small UAV applications.
