As of March 2023, there were 203 A340 aircraft in service with 45 operators worldwide. Lufthansa is the largest A340 operator with 27 aircraft in its fleet. Compared to the A340 quadjet (flying), the lighter A330 (on ground) has two engines and no centre-line wheel bogie.

Narrative: KLM Cityhopper flight 433 took off from runway 24 at Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport, the Netherlands for a 1 hour and 18 minute flight to Cardiff, U.K. Eleven minutes after takeoff, at 14:30 hours local time, the flight passed FL165, climbing to FL200 when the Master Warning was triggered by the no. 2 engine oil pressure light.

First introduced to the fleet in 1993 by Air France, the A340-300 is a long-haul aircraft that can seat up to 300 passengers. Being a slightly longer version than the A340-200, it features larger cargo capacity. A long-haul passenger jet featuring ample belly capacity.

Built for United Airlines and other operators including KLM, the CV-340 was a CV-240 lengthened to hold an additional four seats. The wingspan was extended for better performance at higher altitudes. The CV-340 replaced the DC-3 in United service. The airline flew 52 340s for 16 years without a fatality.

Delivered new to KLM as PH-TGI in October 1953. Later served Mohawk as N4408 and Avensa as YV-C-AVC. Owned by Mackey from 1970 but stored by late 1973 and scrapped in February 1979.

1993年12月22日 · This 340 was delivered to KLM Cityhopper in May 1990 and was written-off in September 2001, when operating for Aeroliroral as XA-ACK, 24 km (15 miles) from Tijuana, Mexico after both engines cut-out and the pilots carried out an emergency landing on farm land (El Valle de las Palmas).
