The KM69 is a stylish and well-built microphone about 10.5 cm long and 2.5 cm in diameter. The finish is brushed silver with an imposing embossed MA logo. Some components, including the cylindrical casing, are made in China, however, the internals are largely custom made in the USA.

The KM-69 is a transformer-coupled FET condenser mic, designed to replace Neumann’s vintage and relatively unobtainable KM-84. Mercenary Audio. During its design, it came very close to the sound of the KM-84, but the tweaking didn’t stop.

Unashamedly inspired by the Neumann KM84i, Mercenary Audio have tweaked their KM69 to suit their own tastes. Does it deliver the goods?

Back in the day, the Neumann KM 84 was the flagship of the small-diaphragm cardioid condenser world, just like the Neumann U 47 was considered the finest large-diaphragm.

Apr 7, 2008 · I don't hear anyone say they like the KM69 better than the KM84. They can be had for the same price. You can sell your 84 for what you paid for it. Why not get the real thing?
