The Korean Next-Generation Destroyer (KDDX) is a next generation stealth guided-missile destroyer under development by Hyundai Heavy Industries for ROK Navy, to be launched after 2025. Displacement of the class is set to be about 8,000 tons, length 155 meters, breadth 18.8 meters and draft 9.5 meters.

2024年1月22日 · Naval News reported that South Korea’s HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HD HHI) has completed the basic design for the Korean next-generation destroyer KDDX, marking a significant milestone in the country’s naval combat vessel technology.

The Sejong the Great class is the third phase of the ROKN's Korean Destroyer eXperimental (KDX) program, a substantial shipbuilding program, which is geared toward enhancing ROKN's ability to successfully defend the maritime areas around South Korea from various modes of threats as well as becoming a blue-water navy.

2022年7月28日 · According to our South Korean sources, the KDX III Batch II ships will feature a total of 88 vertical launch system (VLS) cells: 48x Mk41 VLS for US-made missiles; 16x K-VLS; 24x K-VLS II; K-VLS will be used to deploy K-SAAM (Korean Surface to Air Anti Missile), replacing the RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM).

KDDX will then followed by a replacement destroyer that will replace the DDH-II. Since the DDH-I is a green water fleet combatant, it will be replaced with FFX not a new DDX.

2010年9月28日 · The Sejong the Great Class (Sejongdaewang Class) guided missile destroyers are being developed under the Korean Destroyer eXperimental (KDX) programme of the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN). The Sejong the Great Class is fitted with a RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile launcher.

ROKS Sejong the Great (DDG-991) is the lead ship of her class of guided missile destroyer built for the Republic of Korea Navy. She was the first Aegis-built destroyer of the service and was named after the fourth king of the Joseon dynasty of Korea, Sejong the Great .
