2018年3月14日 · Born in Frederick, Maryland, in 1925, Kreh reinvented the way fly anglers cast, pioneered the sport of saltwater fly-fishing and developed some of the most successful fly patterns ever tied. Kreh’s books, newspaper columns and magazine articles inspired generations of anglers, and his casting lessons taught thousands how to be better casters.

When it comes to Lefty Kreh, one must start with the cast. The slinging of a fly line is the essential act of fly fishing, its biomechanical heart, and its single most significant barrier to entry. Kreh is one of the art’s true grand masters, its greatest innovator and its most prolific teacher.

2023年9月18日 · Kreh died in 2018, and on October 14, a life-size bronze of the legend will be unveiled and dedicated at Frederick’s Culler Lake, where Kreh taught fly-fishing lessons in his early years. A nonprofit group, Friends of Lefty Kreh (FOLK), raised funds for the statue from private and public sources.
