Tich was LBSC’s effort to design a beginners locomotive in 3.5” gauge that could be driven on a track. There has been controversy ever since about what the best way to achieve that, but certainly Tich has had plenty of builders, and in larger gauges, too. This was a nice example in 3.5” gauge shown at the 2018 Midlands exhibition by Dave Lee.

Most model locomotives use wheels made from Cast Iron with the tread profiles turned directly onto the cast material. This is completely satisfactory but some builders like to follow full size practice and fit a steel tyre.
