A MÁV V43 sorozat a Magyar Államvasutak részére szállított legnagyobb darabszámú villamosmozdony-sorozat. A magyar ipar 1960-ban megvásárolta egy szilícium-egyenirányítós mozdony licencét a nyolc gyárat tömörítő „50 periódusú vasútvillamosítás fejlesztésére alakult nyugati munkaközösség”-től.
