London Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) Stanier Black Five, LMS number 4767, BR number 44767 is a preserved steam locomotive. In preservation it has carried the name George Stephenson though it never bore this in service with British Railways.

It was unique amongst the 842-strong class in that it featured outside Stephenson link motion in addition to other experimental features; a double chimney, Timken roller bearings throughout and electric lighting.

The London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) Stanier Class 5 4-6-0, commonly known as the Black Five, is a class of 4-6-0 steam locomotives. It was introduced by William Stanier and built between 1934 and 1951. A total of 842 were built, initially numbered 4658-5499 then renumbered 44658-45499 by BR.

Six locomotives, including 4767, were fitted with double chimneys and electric headlights. To make a proper trial, Ivatt included the standard Walschaerts valve gear, but for the first time in almost 100 years, one locomotive, 4767, was fitted with an experimental set of outside Stephenson motion.

2018年11月24日 · The unique Stephenson link-motion fitted LMS Black 5 No. 44767 "George Stephenson" has been sold by its owner to West Coast Railway Company at Carnforth in Lancashire. 44767 will relocate there at Carnforth Depot where its overhaul will be completed there and will be part of there mainline steam fleet with them
