The LNER Class A4 is a class of streamlined 4-6-2 steam locomotives designed by Nigel Gresley for the London and North Eastern Railway in 1935. Their streamlined design gave them high-speed capability as well as making them instantly recognisable, and one of the class, 4468 Mallard, holds the record as the world's fastest steam locomotive.

Another LNER classically designed loco built at the Doncaster Works. 'Kestrel' was fitted with a corridor tender so that it could be used on the lucrative non stop expresses from London to Scotland, and remained in the LNER garter blue livery from 1937 until 1942.

One of the most iconic locomotive of all time and certainly one of the most handsome, the A4 Locomotive was designed by Sir Nigel Gresley and came into service in 1935. 35 were made and all were named. Perhaps the most famous of all, Mallard reached speed of 126mph in 1938 and still holds the record for the worlds fastest steam train.

Nameplate MILES BEEVOR ex LNER Gresley A4 Class 4-6-2 built at Doncaster in 1937 and numbered LNER 4485 then 587 and 26 and lastly BR 60026. Originally named Kestrel and renamed Miles Beevor in 1947.
