According to [ ] (visited November 2002), the C6 designation included 10 V/09s that were built in 1909 to a modified design.

His 4-4-2 Atlantic (LNER C6) design was one of the most powerful locomotive designs in Britain at the time, and he was the first to introduce a passenger 4-6-0 locomotive to Britain. On his retirement, the prosperous NER was well equipped with locomotive power. Wilson Worsdell retired in 1910 and died in 1920 at South Ascot.

Between 1910 and 1918, the even larger C6 and C7 atlantics were introduced, further displacing all of the NER’s 4-4-0s (including the Q and M classes) to lesser duties. By 1920, only half of the class Q and M engines remained at main line sheds.
