The Wilson Worsdell X2 (NER No. 957) 2-2-4T Locomotive This locomotive was originally built in 1874 as an 0-4-4T B.T.P (Bogie Tank Passenger) locomotive (LNER G6). It was given the number 957, which it kept for its entire life. It was rebuilt into a 2-2-4T in April 1903 specifically for hauling an officer's saloon.

The London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) Class V2 2-6-2 steam locomotives were designed by Sir Nigel Gresley for express mixed traffic work across the British railway network. They were built at the LNER workshops in Doncaster and Darlington between 1936 and 1944.

An outside cylinder 2-2-2WT named Aerolite was built by Kitson, Thompson and Heitson (Leeds) in 1851, originally for display at the Great Exhibition of that year. It was purchased by Leeds Northern Railway in April 1852’ and became NER 369.

In 1892, the locomotive was given a major rebuild which probably only kept the original wheel centres and a boiler from 1886. The wheel arrangement was changed to a 4-2-2T, and two-cylinder Worsdell-von Borries compound working was applied. The side tanks and bunker were enlarged, and the well tank was removed.

The London and North Eastern Railway Class P2 was a class of 2-8-2 steam locomotives designed by Sir Nigel Gresley for working heavy express trains over the harsh Edinburgh to Aberdeen Line. As they were to serve on Scottish expresses, they were given famous names from Scottish lore.

Six four-wheel coaches were initially used but, in 1884, the year that the line opened to Upwell, two bogie coaches were delivered. These two vehicles were some of the most unusual – or eye-catching depending on your point of view – coaches used in Britain. They were built by the Great Eastern Railway under order A17.
