I want to compare the SQ of my laptop to headphone setup with a laptop+dac/amp. Will probably purchase the E7/E9 or the Audinst HUD mx1 in the near future to test them out. .

Seriously though, when considering a laptop you have to take into account not only the internal DAC, but also the internal amp (assuming you're simply plugging your headphones into the headphone jack). Generally, these components won't be up to the task if you are a demanding listener.

Problem is the electrical noise generated by the PC , it requires galvanic isolation at the side of the DAC. When this is done right, it is probably the best solution. 2018年8月11日 · It's a good Audio interface, but the DAC is not optimized for music or gaming, what matters the most usually for an audio interface is the preamps for recording. The quality will certainly better than an onboard laptop DAC, but it won't rival a good DAC for Music or gaming, cause it's not meant to.

2019年11月23日 · Maybe if u can, go audition some DAC/AMPs at your local shop and see if you get better sound. IMHO, there is gonna be more benefit upgrading the transducer (IEM/headphone) first, and later on the downstream components such as DACs/amp/source file, as these usually have diminishing returns in this hobby compared to upgrading the transducer.
