The A78 begins in Greenock, Inverclyde as a continuation of the A8 road at the Bull Ring roundabout, and runs in a southerly direction through the Spango Valley, Inverkip, Wemyss Bay, Skelmorlie, Largs, Fairlie, Seamill and then bypasses the major towns of Ardrossan, Kilwinning, Irvine and Troon amongst others before terminating near Prestwick ...

As publicised, these works are very weather dependent and with heavy rain and strong winds forecast over this weekend, a decision has been taken to stand down the works from 6am on Sunday 20 th October .

Will the A78 be reinstated to the correct speed limit - 60mph - at this time or do the authorities intend to extend it further.

2024年10月17日 · ROADS maintenance company Amey have provided an update on a closure of part of the A78 along the Clyde coast this weekend. The closure will affect motorists from Inverclyde if they are planning to travel down the coast towards Ayrshire.
