The office works across state government, academia and private industry to enhance Michigan’s mobility ecosystem, including developing dynamic mobility and electrification policies and supporting the startup and scale up of emerging technologies and businesses.

Shafiq joined Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Opportunity in September 2023 as the Director of Mobility and Electrification Policy. He has more than 20 years of experience in engineering, consulting, and public policy in Automotive and Electric Utility industry.
