Lut (Arabic: لوط, romanized: Lūṭ, [luːtˁ]) is a prophet and messenger of God who was mentioned in the Qur'an. [1][2] According to Islamic tradition, Lut was born to Haran and spent his younger years in Ur, later migrating to Canaan with his uncle Abraham. [3] .

Prophet Lut, known in the Bible as Prophet Lot, was raised by his uncle, Prophet Ibrahim, may peace be upon him. Prophet Lut (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) loved, respected, and believed in Ibrahim’s (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) message even when everyone ridiculed him.

People of Lut (Arabic: قَوْم لُوط) lived in the al-Mu'takifat region in Palestine. They have a negative appearance in the Qur'an, the Torah and historical sources. They committed sins such as male homosexual activities, banditry, and harassment of passengers. The Qur'an introduced them as the first people who committed male homosexual activities.

Prophet Lut (peace be upon him) used to warn his people from the punishment of Allah that the rod of Allah is silent, fear it.
