The Willys MC, formally the 1⁄4-Ton, 4 x 4, Utility Truck M38, or the G‑740 by its U.S. Army Standard Nomenclature supply catalog designation, is a quarter-ton four-wheel drive military light utility vehicle made by Willys between 1949 and 1952.

The Willys MD, formally the M38A1 Truck, Utility: 1/4 ton, 4x4, or the G‑758 by its U.S. Army Standard Nomenclature supply catalog designation, was a four-wheel drive, military light utility vehicle, made by Willys and Willys Motors / Kaiser Jeep from 1952 to 1971.

The M38 was introduced in 1950 (not 1949 as often seen), used as the primary tactical vehicle for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps in the Korean War. Mofifications made to the CJ-3A and upgrades enhance its off-road capabilities in military operations.

2018年6月29日 · In 1950, Willys introduced the M-38 (identified as an "MC" by Willys), a post-WWII Jeep based on the CJ-3A and fitted will military-specific features, including a one-piece foldable windshield, bottom-mounted wipers, a pintle hook for towing, lifting shackles, and a fuel filler on the drivers side.

The Willys M-38 was the military version of the CJ-3A, and it replaced the Willys MB in military service. The M-38 served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and it was the first jeep to feature protruding guard wires to protect the front headlights. 2019年8月20日 · The massive success that was the Willys MB "jeep" 4x4 utility vehicle of World War 2 prompted US Army officials to seek an improved form. Willys-Overland responded with the newer Model C (Willys MC) which was taken into US Army service in 1950 as the M38.

The M38 was designed for use in the Korean War and was used by the United States Army, Marine Corps, and United Nations forces. It had improved suspension, brakes, and electrical systems, and was the first Jeep to feature a fully enclosed body.
