May 14, 2015 · The M59 bullet (T21) and the M80 bullet (T28) were developed at the same time. The M80 did not evolve from the M59 as some sites on the Internet would lead us to believe. They both go back to the T65 generation of prototype Cal .30 Light Rifle cartridges. The T21 was the T65E4 and the T28 was the T65E5 (later re-designated as the T233).

M80 Ball Velocity - M14 Forum
Nov 25, 2008 · I was reading a publication called TM 43-0001-27 which tells all about 7.62mm ammo. One of the interesting bits of information given is the velocity. It shows that the velocity of the M80 round is 2750 ft/sec, measured 78' from the muzzle. Backtracking from that, with my chronograph at 6' from the muzzle, I should be getting about 2910 ft/sec.

Dec 11, 2006 · With M80 bullets (either the Winchester from Midway or the pulldowns from Widener's) I use 44 gr of H335 or 43.5 gr of AA2230 in LC cases with WLR primers to duplicate M80 ball (average velocity of 2750 fps on a 60-70 degree day). As always these loads are with the current lots of powder I have.

Also as I previously mentioned some lots of .308W factory ammunition are right up close to the MAP of 62,000 psi with M118. Additional M80 (US and foreign) tested on the same day, consecutively, and under the same conditions;
PPU m80 ball vs. Winchester lake city m80 - M14 Forum
Oct 11, 2021 · I haven’t shot any LC M80 ammo in a long time but I found that the last lot I shot was rather good for service grade ammo. M80 ammo is only used currently is MG’s but the accuracy spec hasn’t changed to the best of my knowledge. I think that it is possible to get accurate M80 ammo but is possible to get M80 ammo that barely meets the spec.
