Respectfully disagree. I got into MCR in 2003, and by 2005 Livejournal was flooded with MCR communities — fanfic groups, gossip groups, weird girlfriend hate groups. They got incredible niche. Some of them with tens of thousands of members, which was a lot at a time where MySpace was the leading social media.
