Our Medical Financial Assistance program provides temporary financial assistance to help qualified patients pay for health care based on their financial need. This includes emergency, urgent, or medically necessary care, as well as pharmacy services and products received from Kaiser Permanente providers or facilities.

If you need help paying for health care services or prescriptions you have had, or are scheduled to receive, from Kaiser Permanente, our Medical Financial Assistance (MFA) program may be able to help you. You may apply by completing and submitting an application, including your household income information.

Our Medical Financial Assistance program (MFA) provides temporary financial assistance for qualifying patients who need help paying for care or medication they receive in Kaiser Permanente's medical facilities.

KFHP/H maintains a means-tested MFA program to mitigate financial barriers to receiving emergency and medically necessary care for eligible patients regardless of a patient’s age, disability, gender, race, religious affiliation or immigration status, sexual orientation, national origin, and whether the patient has health coverage.

Hospital costs were lower, but costs for clinic visits, pharmacy services, phone calls, and radiology services were significantly higher, resulting in service cost neutrality, possibly because financial barriers before MFA award led to accumulated demand for services.
