2010年4月1日 · M7s have real backlit numberboards whereas M7As have stenciled-on numbers. The M7 is the LIRR version, the M7-A is the MNRR version. The only difference between the two is their third rail capability. An easy way to tell which is which is the car end, M7A MNCRR is painted blue while the M7 LIRR is panted yellow on bottom and black on top !

M3A and M7A cars draw power from 650 V DC third rail with under-running contact shoes. M8 draw power from third rail, both over- and under-running, or 12.5 kV 60 Hz and 25 kV 60 Hz AC catenary.
