It could be that Mr. X is in Donkey Kong Land 2. DKL2 is based loosely off DKC2 for the Game Boy. It has slightly different levels, enemies, and characters, but the same general storyline. Perhaps that's a picture of the German DKL2 manual. I thought his name was Klubba, then again it is a game in a different language.
