DOS 2.x adds support for subdirectories and larger (as in 10 MB) disks. Important: Some of these OEM versions will only run, or run properly on the specific computers they were designed for. Similarly, those computers will normally only run their special OEM version.

MS-DOS (/ ˌɛmˌɛsˈdɒs / em-es-DOSS; acronym for Microsoft Disk Operating System, also known as Microsoft DOS) is an operating system for x86 -based personal computers mostly developed by Microsoft.

This repo contains the original source-code and compiled binaries for MS-DOS v1.25 and MS-DOS v2.0, plus the source-code for MS-DOS v4.00 jointly developed by IBM and Microsoft.

The 2.00 files from the OEM diskettes pictured above are primarily binary files, not source code. The rest of the source files are actually from a much later snapshot of source code, used to build MS-DOS 2.11, so at best, the collection should be referred to as “MS-DOS 2.x”.

MS-DOS 2.00 was released in March 1983 and introduced support for subdirectories and hard drives (with capacity up 10 MB). Microsoft later released MS-DOS 2.25 specifically for the Far East market, with improved support for double-byte characters. MS-DOS 2.25 also shipped with utilities compatible with DOS 3.0.
