Identity Services (ID Services) operates out of the MSU ID Office to manage Spartan Cards (physical credential) and NetIDs (online credential) for MSU students, faculty, staff, and affiliated persons.

MSU NetIDs are assigned to all current faculty, staff, students and retirees. A NetID is a unique alphanumeric identifier auto-generated from the user’s name. Your NetID is your personal identifier at MSU and serves as your login to many university computing and networking services.
Getting Your Spartan Card | ID Office | Michigan State University
You will need to provide us your student ID number (a 9-digit number starting with 1 which can be found on your applicant portal or on your student portal) and a government issued photo ID (passport, US driver's license, and US State ID) to pick up your Spartan Card.
Replacing Your Spartan Card | ID Office - Michigan State University
If your Spartan Card is lost, stolen, or damaged, you may come to the ID Office during our business hours to obtain your replacement Spartan Card. You will need to provide your student ID number (a 9-digit number starting with 1 which can be found in your student portal).
New Students | NetID | Michigan State University
Activate and set up your NetID by using your Student ID and PAN numbers. This will require you to create a password. (Read tips for creating a strong password.) Register for Self Service Password Reset. To log in to your MSU email, please visit spartanmail.msu.edu.
Manage a NetID | NetID | Michigan State University
The links below can be used to manage a NetID which has already been activated. MSU faculty, staff and students will need to register for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in order to access some MSU systems and can register at the same time for self-service password reset.

Watch idoffice.msu.edu (link) for details. A government-issued ID card is required at pickup (driver’s license, state ID or passport). Take Your Photo in the ID Office. Visit the ID Office, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.

Spartan Card provisioning and troubleshooting for MSU students, faculty, staff, and affiliated persons is handled by the ID Office. A Spartan Card can be used for door and parking access, meal plans, library borrowing, recreational sports facilities access and athletic ticketing.
