Macario Sakay y de León (March 1, 1870 – September 13, 1907) was a Filipino general who took part in the 1896 Philippine Revolution against the Spanish Empire and in the Philippine–American War. After the war was declared over by the United States in 1902, Sakay continued resistance by leading guerrilla raids.

On May 6, 1903 Macario Sakay issues out his first manifesto establishing the Republika ng Katagalugan Government on Mount San Cristobal in Laguna province. The manifesto Sakay under signs, “Ang Presidente Supremo”.

Macario Sakay was among the original members of the Katipunan and the last Filipino resistance leader to surrender to the Americans. He joined the Katipunan 1894. While hiding in the mountains, Sakay organized his forces in Bulacan, Pampanga, Morong, Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas, and later created the Tagalog Republic or “Republika ng Katagalugan.’

2011年9月4日 · Macario Sakay was a Filipino revolutionary who established the Tagalog Republic after being released from prison in 1902. He led a guerrilla campaign against U.S. forces from bases in Southern Luzon. However, in 1906 Sakay was deceived into surrendering by promises of amnesty from the American governor.

Sakay, who declared himself the President of the unrecognized Tagalog Republic after the capture of Emilio Aguinaldo, is also unofficially a Philippine President. He is best remembered for his long hair, and his capture and subsequent execution by the Americans in 1907.
