The primary cause of Maki’s scars is the intense heat and flames unleashed by Jogo during the Shibuya Incident. The power of Jogo’s flames was overwhelming, leaving catastrophic consequences for anyone caught in their path.

Following her encounter with the cursed spirit Jogo, Maki received permanent burn scars across her upper body and face. Prior to her injury, her hair was long and tied up in a short ponytail. After her injury, her hair becomes shorter to the point that it barely covers her ears.

2022年9月13日 · Even if the scars can heal, during Momo and Nobara’s conversation, the whole thing about scars being a mark of bravery on a man, but a flaw on a woman came up. I don’t see Gege removing Maki’s scars for symbolic reasons. It shows character development, her journey.

2022年9月15日 · I read so many posts & comments stating that Maki's burned scars are irreversible and they can't be fixed... but I think there are actually some ways to undo her damage that might happen in the future:

2023年9月23日 · Her body bears scars from severe burns inflicted by Jogo’s flames during the Shibuya Incident, covering her arms and parts of her face. Her hair was also affected, now reaching only just past her ears. As a result, she modified her uniform to leave her arms exposed and wore a sleeveless black shirt with a cape, secured by Jujutsu High pins.

Right before war, Maki explained to Yuta about her lack of curse power and her motivation as a Sorcerer. Suguru then brutally wounds Maki to the point of death, and then injures Panda and Toge as well. Yuta then tried his best to heal them and manages to defeat Suguru.

This explains how Maki was able to get her eye back and lost the slash from the sword. What takes us normal humans to heal (weeks, months) only takes Maki and Toji minutes to heal depending on how severe the injury is my guess.
