2023年10月12日 · For days, no one knew what had become of May Naim. The 24-year-old Israeli attended a family wedding last week before heading to southern Israel to spend time with friends, said her cousin Phil Hankin, director of education at Temple Emanu-El in San Jose.

May Naim was murdered while attending the Nova festival, near Kibbutz Re'im. Having fled when the terror attack began on Oct 7, she was found hugging her childhood friend Lotan Abir, both lifeless, in a bomb shelter near Kibbutz Be'eri. She was the granddaughter of Shlomo Scharf, a well-known Israeli soccer commentator and former coach and player.

2023年10月12日 · Mai, 24, was killed by Hamas soldiers during a concert near the Gaza border on Saturday. She eventually took refuge in an open area for bombing, but was found and shot. More than 260 people were killed during the attack on the festival grounds. Nearly a thousand mourners gathered at the small cemetery in Gan Haim, north of Tel Aviv.

May’s joy of life, from the first time we met at age 4 until the last at age 23, was infectious and heartwarming. Her kind and beautiful eyes wanted to know everything, to embrace and cheer with the energy of an angel on Earth.
