McHenry is a city in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. It is located about 55 miles northwest of Chicago. Per the 2020 census, the population was 27,135. [4] McHenry was at one time the county seat of McHenry County, which once included adjoining Lake County to the east.

There are so many great things happening in McHenry - from downtown revitalization and growth in our industrial and commercial/retail businesses, to the many community festivals that we have throughout the year.

McHenry County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. According to the 2020 Census, it had a population of 310,229, [2] making it the sixth-most populous county in Illinois. Its county seat is Woodstock. [3] McHenry County is one of the five Illinois collar counties in the Chicago metropolitan area.

McHenry is located in east-central McHenry County, 55 miles northwest of the Chicago Loop and 35 miles from O’Hare International Airport. The City is centered on two major State highways – Illinois Route 31, which runs north/south from Wisconsin to South Elgin; and, Illinois Route 120, which runs east/west from Woodstock to Park City.
