Menkaure (flourished 25th century bce) was the fifth or sixth king of the 4th dynasty (c. 2543–c. 2436 bce) of Egypt; he built the third and smallest of the three Pyramids of Giza.

2024年11月22日 · Pharaoh Menkaure’s legacy as a ruler of Egypt’s Fourth Dynasty is firmly established through his monumental architectural achievements, particularly the Pyramid of Menkaure at Giza, and his role within a powerful royal lineage.

The third of the major pyramids at Giza belongs to Menkaure. This is the smallest of the three, rising to a height of 65 meters (213 feet), but the complex preserved some of the most stunning examples of sculpture to survive from all of Egyptian history.

Menkaure (Menkaura, “Eternal like the souls of Re”) ruled during the fourth dynasty (Old Kingdom) of Ancient Egypt. He may also have used the names Kakhet and Hornub. It is thought that he was either the son of Khufu or the son of Khafre. The Turin Kings list places another pharaoh between Menkaure and Khafre, but the name is damaged.

The pyramid was built by Menkaure of the Golden Fourth Dynasty (2613-2494 BC) to complete the legacy of his great ancestors. The exact date of its construction is unknown, as Menkaure's reign wasn't fully defined during the 26 th century BC.
