STM study of the surface morphology of gold on mica
1988年1月1日 · The scanning tunneling microscope (STM) promises to be a useful tool for the study of thin film deposition processes. We have imaged the growth surface of vapor-deposited gold on mica with an STM. Monatomic steps, dislocations, grain boundaries and grain topographies have been mapped for various gold thicknesses and deposition temperatures.
Single-crystalline silver films on mica - ScienceDirect
2018年1月1日 · Highly ordered Ag films grown on cleaved mica with a two-step procedure were characterized in detail with several techniques for surface analysis, including low-energy electron diffraction, X-ray photoemission spectra, a scanning tunneling microscope and angle-resolved photoemission spectra.
Scanning Tunneling Microscopy Study and Nanomanipulation of …
We study interfacial water trapped between a sheet of graphene and a muscovite (mica) surface using Raman spectroscopy and ultrahigh vacuum scanning tunneling microscopy (UHV-STM) at room temperature. We are able to image the graphene–water interface with atomic resolution, revealing a layered network of water trapped underneath the graphene.
Graphene Visualizes the Ion Distribution on Air-Cleaved Mica
2017年3月6日 · We show by means of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and Lateral Force Microscopy (LFM) that graphene can enable non-destructive visualization, with single-ion resolution, of the lateral ...
STM study of Au (111) growth on mica - Springer
Samples prepared at various temperatures from 580 K to 890 K and evaporation rates smaller than 1 nm/s were studied by a scanning tunneling microscope (STM) under ambient conditions. Structure and defects of Au(111) surfaces were investigated …
Gold grown epitaxially on mica: conditions for large area flat …
1991年10月1日 · In this paper we report our investigation of the epitaxy of gold on mica via STM and AFM car- ried out specifically to find the conditions neces- sary to induce the growth of large-area flat faces on the Au thin film surface so that it could be used as a STM/AFM substrate.
An epitaxially grown Au film on a cleaved mica substrate has a stable and inert surface with (111) orientation [1]. It can be used as an alternative surface to HOPG (highly oriented pyrolytic graphite) for STM images with atomic resolution in air. Surface states in the gap of projected bulk states make possible to study
Scanning tunneling microscopy of DNA - IEEE Xplore
1996年2月29日 · Imaging DNA at exceedingly low currents and high voltages prevents damaging contact in humid conditions. The STM images of DNA on mica are evidence that the STM could be used to study genomic structure on a nanometer scale.
Facile preparation of Au (111)/mica substrates for high‐quality ...
2016年8月3日 · A setup for the preparation of oriented Au (111)/mica thin films of 100 nm thickness as an active substrate for graphene nanoribbon growth is shown. Low-energy electron diffraction shows that the Au (111) thin films have a single crystallographic orientation over the whole surface area.
Electronically decoupled stacking fault tetrahedra embedded …
2016年12月23日 · Here, we report on the electronic properties of SFTs that are retrieved in Au (111) films grown on mica and that we investigate by scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM), scanning tunnelling...
