2010年4月20日 · If you want you can cut your material 5" by 5". by the time you trim it and cut it in half you would end up with two scales about 2" by 4 1/2". Just make your press the right size to press it. I made the press for the tutorial with 1"x 6"s 13" long. I can press material 5"x 5" and since the press is 13" long I can press material 10" long if I want.

2015年2月12日 · Just built a new micarta press. Used some 3/8" flat bar, and 1/4" flat bar. It's MUCH better then the wood one I had and much more accurate to the thickness. Plus I added legs on this one so when I go to clamp the top on, it's raised off the table so the clamp fits under it and I have both hands free to work the clam. The results speak for them ...

1999年4月28日 · Anyone here make their own micarta type material? I have played with it for a bit. Layered material stacked up works well with my molds and press I have. I am doing some camo patterns where I chop up the fabric into random shapes, soak it in the epoxy and then put it into a mold, press it and let cure.

2019年3月18日 · micarta is a name brand that basically no one can replicate. However I've had great luck making homemade "micarta" using fiberglass resin. Do a you tube search and you'll find TONS of info. My most popular knife scale is home made blue jean "micarta" I have also made knife scales from a deceased persons favorite shirt and made it in "micarta".
