However, Sauron is a Maiar, so they sent the Istari, the 5 maiar sent to middle earth as wizards to aid the people of middle earth.

Sauron's cold and calculating approach is more malicious and terrifying than Morgoth's impulsive and explosive temper tantrums. Morgoth is more evil in that he'd more delusional and egotistical than Sauron. Morgoth reminds me of Homelander from The Boys.
