Morningside Park is a 30-acre (12-hectare) public park in Upper Manhattan in New York City, New York, United States. The park is bounded by 110th Street to the south, 123rd Street to the north, Morningside Avenue to the east, and Morningside Drive to the west.

Morningside Park, one of only 11 New York City designated Scenic Landmarks, is a narrow strip that stretches 13 blocks through the neighborhoods of Harlem and Morningside Heights. Morningside Park blends dramatic landscaping with the pleasures of a community park.

Built on a steep incline, multiple playgrounds nestle at the bottom of its cliff-like hillside, and visitors pause along its heights to take in a unique view. Winding paths bordered with flowers and trees lead to a cascading waterfall, across from which local teams play on its baseball fields.

Morningside Park is a designated Scenic Landmark of New York City. The 30 acre park is the final collaboration between park designers Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux to be completed while they both lived.

Morningside Park, one of four Historic Harlem Parks, takes its name from the eastern side, where the sun rises, of the rugged cliff of Manhattan schist that separates Morningside Heights on the west from the Harlem plain to the east.

One of only three Manhattan Parks (along with Central Park and Riverside Park) designed by the legendary team of Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, Morningside Park boasts visually dramatic cliffs, a waterfall, a pond and gardens.

2024年6月8日 · Fourteen years after their original proposal was rejected, and one year after Mould’s 1886 death, Olmsted and Vaux were once again hired to develop Morningside Park. Their second plan included expansive lawns, dense plantings of trees, and meandering paths- all meant to enhance the area’s natural beauty.

Morningside Park I know has had a very bad past reputation as a dangerous past due to its location. I know it can be a rough area but this part of Harlem has been fully gentrified and the park has been renovated since the ‘bad old days’.
