All LMMR mules are microchipped, fully vaccinated, dewormed and have a current Coggins. In order for a mule to be considered "adoptable", it must meet certain criteria: SOME MULES MAY BE TEMPORARILY LOCATED IN LIBERTY HILL, TEXAS FOR TRAINING. Once we have received the application, it will be reviewed within 10 business days.

Lost Meadows Mule Refuge (LMMR) work closely with many agencies in the rescue of abused, neglected and abandoned mules. All animals brought into the LMMR system are microchipped and their file reflects the rescue case number.

In 2002, Mark and Amy rescued Mike the Mule. That was the start of what would become a long list of rescued mules. In 2019, Mark launched the Lost Meadows Mule Refuge as a division of the Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue.
